Saratoga Sets the Pace

The pace of summer was set centuries ago in Saratoga Springs, located just 25 miles north of Albany. Time in Saratoga passes at your leisure. The famed racetrack, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the spas and mineral baths, and the gourmet dining and shopping on Broadway are just a few of Saratoga’s famed attractions. You’ll see why ESPN named Saratoga Race Course as one of the 25 greatest sports venues in America. The horses run from late July through Labor Day.

Lake Placid, A Gold Medal Destination

Centered in the heart of the High Peaks region, Lake Placid has always had spectacular scenery. But after hosting the 1980 Olympics, it captured the heart of America as well. A stroll down charming Main Street with its shops and restaurants is a must, but there’s much more. Ride the Cloudsplitter on Whiteface Mountain, the most scenic gondola in North America. Visit the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex, where the U.S freestyle aerial team trains. Careen down an Olympic bobsled run. Skate on 1980's “Miracle on Ice.” Just a few ideas for you!

Lake George, where Summer Vacations reach their Peak

From the crest of a roller coaster to the top of a mountain, the Lake George area is where a vacation reaches its peak. Hiking, boating, camping, para-sailing and even hot air balloon rides are all part of the Lake George experience. There’s even an indoor waterpark. Drive Prospect Mountain Veteran’s Memorial Highway for panoramic 100-mile views of Vermont, New Hampshire and Canada. Then take the “viewmobile” to the summit! Be sure to see Fort Ticonderoga from the Revolutionary War...it even has a lock of George Washington’s hair!

Adirondacks Attractions

Between golf courses, you’ll want to take a breather. Great towns to hit include Saranac Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, Tupper Lake and Old Forge. Saranac Lake has guided canoeing and kayaking. The Adirondacks Museum in Blue Mountain Lake has been called the “Smithsonian of the Adirondacks,” by National Geographic. In Tupper Lake, you’ll be amazed at the Wild Center, which has hundreds of live animals and walkways with scenic overlooks. Old Forge is a great place to shop, with one of the country’s largest and most unusual hardware stores. If you have kids in tow, there’s the Enchanted Forest Water Safari. Golfers love it, too!
