Old Forge
Nestled in the foothills of the Adirondacks, Thendara Golf
Club is a championship Donald Ross course. It has played
host to Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino and Chi
Chi Rodriguez. The course was cut from the beauty of the
lower Adirondack mountains in 1921.
Its hallmarks are its plush grasses, meticulously maintained
greens and fairways, and majestic pines. Elevated, rolling
greens are a Ross signature, and this course is no exception.
You will also encounter a fair number of doglegs. Its
recently installed state-of-the-art irrigation system helps
ensure a memorable golfing experience.
Deer are not uncommon at Thendara, along with other wildlife.
Take time to enjoy Old Forge, with its many shops, rustic
ambiance and lakeside charm. Autumn in Old Forge is highly
recommended. It’s also the snowmobile capital of the world,
but leave that for another season.
